The Great Class Dash

By Dylan 'Steaky' Loney

Hey Everyone!

I've finally released the first public version of my Team Fortress mod, and I would love it if you would give it a playthrough and let me know what you think.

The game is a platformer similar to the flash game Canabalt. The first level starts out with you controlling only the scout. The only control in this stage is jumping, and its relatively easy to clear all the obstacles and reach the end of the level.

Later levels introduce more classes though, and in the end, you will have to quickly switch between all nine to reach the finish.

A trailer is also available here : http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=HwCS3JlayGs

I have done my best to try to get the game to run with as few problems as possible, but there are still some glitches in the game (the class selection can be especially tricky, and may glitch if you try to change classes too quickly). I appologize if this happens.

Special thanks to TF2Maps.net for their work on the Swamp pack.

Please let me know if you have any questions or feedback about the game.

Woah - that looks totally awesome! Great work. Is it purely I/O based scripting in Hammer or did you actually code that stuff?

I've just played through Canada and Egypt. To sum up my experience, I think you have a great game design flawed by a myriad of bugs that make what would be an impeccable execution a very frustrating experience.

The maps are gorgeous, well planned and executed. The classes are well defined and their use is varied. The controls would be simple if they were responsive and there was no latency in game. The level design would be enjoyable if characters didn't fall through the floor, or ran continuously on the same x axis regardless of obstacles or platforms below them.

I understand you have scripted the whole game, and by "scripted" I take it there is very little code involved that isn't TF2's. I would recommend you enroll a programmer to help you iron out these issues because I would very much like to see this mod be as awesome as it says on the tin.
